Busy Month of May

Did my first Crossfit Comp a couple of weekends ago Clash of the Coast - Had a great time with a team of Misfits.

Before Comp started

Photo by Jay Clark: who is one of our Crossfit Noosa Members - he has got some great footage over the weekend.  This was during the 2nd event which was a plank hold burpbee over - while the ladies teamed up to transport 20kg up and back on a 100m course.

During our 3 event - KB swings while two of our team mates run a 200m course.

I have started up my The Ocean Athlete training clinics again - after being away from the sport for a couple of years due to sponsorship commitments, I am back taking groups, clubs and individual training sessions.  If you are keen contact us via email or on the Crossfit Noosa web site.

I always start off with a beach talk it is the best way to work out just what each member of the group s looking for.  This was a beginners group for down wind paddling - one of the most enjoyable paddles you can do along any coast line with the right technique & coaching.

We hit the water - this may look flat and glassy but no more than 20m away we were in the wind and good little beginner bumps.

New Kia Kaha Paddles designs

Ok, so i'm planning some new designs this year. First i'm modifying the 8.5" Sup blade to take a wood shaft, for anyone wanting a small blade or for kids paddle. Also, with using my original 9.5" blade as a base shape, thinking of 9", 9.25", 9.75", 10", maybe not all of them. ANY VOTES?

Also planning a smaller steering again, and a large surf or sailing canoe steering blade.
All feedback appreciated, as I haven't decided what to do first.

To go along with 9.75 paddling blade we recently completed, we will have 9.25 and 9.5. The goal was to have different sizes of the same blade shape.
Also a extra large steering blade for canoe surf or sailing 11.25 wide x 27.
Just started the molding process.

Super stoked with our new surf/ sail steering paddle. Tested it today 4 man canoe surfing. I felt like I had a lot of control over the blade and it stuck really good to the side of canoe. It handled some critical situations with a lot of pressure on it with ease (cranked it hard).

Can't wait to use it sailing.

Tested paddling blade today, worked great. Paddle size 9.75 x 17.5 50" double bend.

East Coast Low

Gotta love a East Coast Low..  Brings in all the goodies for the weekend.

The Noosa Board Riders Club was called off due to size for the groms so we went in search for our own little slice of the East Coast Low.

Woogie got some good rides on his MB

 Taj waiting for his turn

To finish off the morning Woogie & Taj headed over to National Park and got a few more waves with the crowds, then returned in the afternoon for more on the open beaches.
