Bare back

You know it is getting warmer when you can head out for an early bare back.  Spring has sprung on the last weekend of September and with the school holidays on my boy Taj got to come out for an early with me before I headed off to work.

Taj is getting more and more confident out in the water by him self and has the strength and skill set to pop over waves even when they are over head for him.  The Ocean Athlete Program which we have been working on definitely helps on days like these.

The Crossfit Noosa Kids program has been running for a little on a year and the kids that have been rocking up to training have been seeing the difference.

Getting some fun little waves before work.  A quick 1hour surf before work a great way to recharge the mind body & soul.

Strength & Conditioning: Next Generation

With the warmer weather it is time to dust off the SUP and start paddling again.  I want the whole whanau paddling so it is time for our newest addition to get onto the board.  Although it was a short 10 mins for him he loves the water so I have no problems with taking him when we go on a whanau outting.

Developing a good work, play ethic at an early age not only helps with school but life in general. We have been looking at sports outside the box for the kids to enjoy all aspects of where we live.  The Ocean is a big part of our life and it gives me a warm funny feeling inside when the kids want to get up early and go for a surf with you.  To do this they need to be confident and capable in the water especially on an open beach.  Having the ocean knowledge of currants, waves, sets, rips is all part of living on the coast.

Mahiku Kini Capri

The Ocean Athlete is happy to support a local Hawaiian Big Island Girls, Mahea and Ehiku were born water women. From their native Hawaiian heritage to paddling  together for Puna Canoe Club as kids, being water women was just plain and simply in their blood.

Growing up in Kalapana, Mahealani lived and breathed the ocean lifestyle.  After High School she attended the Fashion Institute of Design where she graduated with a degree in Graphic Arts, then she set off to travel the world.  All the while designing and sewing bikinis and active wear for herself, friends and her paddling teammates. From surfing the Big Island reef breaks, to paddling for her local Canoe Club, she is truly a Hawaiian water woman.

Ehiku started  surfing  when she was just  a toddler on the front of her mothers board.  She started canoe paddling at the age of 12 , while still  surfing and  body boarding the perfect Hawaiian waves.  SUP became her new passion in 2007 while living in Malibu with her Husband Actor Ingo Rademacher.  Being able to combine canoe paddling and surfing allowed Ehiku to ditch the wetsuit in the California cold waters of Point Dume and get back into a bikini. Ehiku has always had a love for design. Being an avid water woman and lover of all outdoor activity, she saw a need for active wear in the SUP community. Having been aware of her friend Mahea’s design talents for quite some time it was the paddle “Kini” pants that caught her attention, it was something different and new in a competitive sportswear market.

Mahea and Ehiku are SUP enthusiasts and  want to make being on the water and working out even more fun by offering their passion for design, color, comfort, and, “originality” in their MAHIKU Activewear Collection.
